How’d they do it? For starters, there’s a pair of mammoth Garrett G28/71 turbos under the hood pushing on forged internals. The team also reworked the cylinder heads, bolted on a water/methanol-injection intake manifold and unique cast-iron exhaust manifold. The whole kit breathes through an up-sized stainless steel exhaust system, and MTE says that it has limited the wicked little Golf at 193 mph. In order to cope with that kind of speed, the VW wears Brembo six-piston calipers and KW Variant 3 coilovers along with semi-slick tires. We’ve bounced around the Bay Area, made it out to the coast, logged several trips into San Francisco and made the trek to Infineon raceway. In the process, we’ve experienced the normal post-delivery phases: honeymoon, discovery and finally, annoyance. On the whole, however, the Jetta TDI Cup has proven to be a perfectly balanced package, with a smattering of tech-rich amenities and a surprisingly sporty demeanor – diesel or not.

We mentioned in our review that the Jetta’s offers one of the best tillers in the compact sports sedan segment. The electric power assist steering feels like it’s been slightly tweaked compared to past Jetta models we’ve driven, although the 18-inch wheel package is surely helping the matter. While it’s not as communicative as the GTI’s, you get a good sense of what the tires are doing both on-center and while loaded up, and the rate of return when powering around corners is perfectly matched to the 236 pound-feet of torque being channeled to the front wheels. Our only gripe remains the number of buttons on the wheel and the placement of the paddle-shifters. Read on to see what we mean.

While the switches are the exact same units fitted to nearly every other VW product, they seem far too inboard, causing us to shift our wrists at an awkward angle when selecting gears. We’d chalk it up to stubby fingers, but our high school piano teacher would beg to differ – we’ve got some lanky digits.

Also, there’s a host of connectivity features to port your tunes into the touchscreen stereo, including the aforementioned iPod connector nestled within the armrest, Bluetooth integration and an auxiliary jack on the center console, aft of the cupholders. The placement of the jack makes it easy to access, but if you’re carrying two drinks, one of them is going to run into the 1/8-inch cable. It hasn’t messed with the connection, but considering how close it is to the armrest, we don’t understand why VW didn’t just port it into the same area as the iPod jack.

On the topic of connectivity, our next update should include a video to see how long it takes to set up the Bluetooth audio and phone system – without reading the owner’s manual. Volkswagen Bluesport

Volkswagen Bluesport was first shown to the public at the Detroit Motor Show in 2009. A source within the German company told the journalists at AutoExpress that Volkswagen is ready to begin the mass production of the Bluesport model.

The standard version of the Volkswagen Bluesport will have 2.0-liter diesel engine capable of producing 178 horsepower. Also, the Wolfsburg manufacturer model can be ordered with the 1.4 liter TFSI engine or the 2.0 liter.

New VW Polo

Volkswagen has released a video showing the stages of assembly of the new Polo. The German car is currently produced in Spanin, at the Pamplona plant.

American continent, two-door saloon – coupe real sites, in fact – have caught more than in Europe. Models like the Honda Civic Coupe, Acura Integra and Chevrolet Cobalt have made a career across the Atlantic. Therefore, it was the right place to provide a unique model. Specialists in Volkswagen Jetta and Scirocco taken into account and they offered a new version, named for its New Compact Coupe. What is interesting is that the concept looks almost ready for production. Hybridization

In Volkswagen’s case, the German automaker is recalling a total of 15,902 Routan minivans manufactured from June 2008 through July 2009 because the door hinge on some models could tear through wire insulation, causing a short circuit and possible fire.

The same issue led Chrysler to announce a recall for 284,831 Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans (upon which the Routan is based) in the beginning of the month.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the German automaker will inspect the wire assembly and the sliding door power drive unit, and if necessary, repair and/or replace any damaged parts. In addition, the two harnesses will be tied together and rerouted under the under the sliding door weather strip.

New VW Jetta

Germans from Volkswagen presented the first official pictures of the new Jetta generation. The Golf’s brother received a strong personality and a great design.

It’s time for a new generation of the Jetta and the Volkswagen people they did not all in vain. The model has been designed differently from that of the Gulf and an impressive personality. Design drawings of this model is reminiscent of NCC (New Concept Car) Volkswagen presented the Germans a few months ago. Surprisingly, they came and production model in a very short time. While the silhouette model retained a great deal of features, buttocks and the front is totally changed and the changes are more than interesting.

The folks at Volkswagen have chosen a particular area of New York to present their new compact sedan – Times Square. Globally, they have sold 9.6 million units and the design of this version is quite different from what we have shown so far. Compared with the previous generation of this model, the new Jetta has a larger wheelbase and seven inches long by nine inches high. Thus, stability and space offered by the Jetta have increased significantly.

Jetta largest so far has a length of 4640 mm, a height of 1450 mm and 1780 mm wide. The new Jetta’s exterior dimensions make them a strong balance of proportion and seamlessly integrate new design philosophy of Volkswagen vehicles. Jetta’s shape became better defined and more athletic, while this model is more elegant lines and are drawn very clearly. Although the example of the image is USA version, we expect minor changes to the market in Europe. The first change will be the lights that will give the orange flags for units with signals closer to the tastes of Europeans.

Engines that will be offered in Europe are in number six. Four of them are new Jetta range and will be added in 2011. Engine is based on a 1.2-liter TSI offers 105 hp and gradually climbs to a 160 hp 1.4 TSI. Entry-level version in the range diesel common rail TDI is a 1.6-liter, developing 105 hp and top engine is a 2.0 liter unit and 140 hp. IST versions continuous units and 122 hp 1.4-liter, 2.0 liters and 200 hp respectively. Except motor 1.2 TSI 105 PS, all engines can be ordered with a gearbox six-speed DSG and TSI engines of 122 hp and 200 may receive a DSG unit with seven reports.

Future Volkswagen Lupo

Volkswagen will bring to market in 2012 a descendant of the old Lupo, a mini-class model, derived from the concept UP!, Introduced in 2007. The City Model will have petrol and diesel engines with three cylinders.

After a period in which the dust bedding on a survivor’s development plans for the old Lupo, new information on the mini out to the surface. Unofficial sources claim that even next year, Volkswagen will launch a new Lupo, identified by the general public with the production version of the concept Up!, Presented in 2007 in Frankfurt.

The model number will be a Mignon with only three doors, which will measure about 345 cm. The range of engines will include more than new generation engines. Of these recall drive 1.0-liter three-cylinder capable of delivering 60 horsepower. There will be a four-cylinder 1.0 TSI, which offers 85 horsepower, low consumption and low emissions. For those who want a diesel version of Volkswagen TDI will propose a three-cylinder 1.2-liter and 75 horsepower.

With a starting price of 8,500 euros minimum, the Wolfsburg manufacturer expects sales to reach a rate of 600,000 units per year.

Lupo future range would expand in 2015 with a five-door variant, the concept downward Space Up!, Which most likely will be called Lupo Plus. A year later, Volkswagen will unveil and E-Lupo, an electric version, anticipated the concept’s Up!, Presented last year at the Frankfurt Fair.
