The Volkswagen scientists at MTE recently decided that their Golf R32 BiTurbo just wasn’t quite up to snuff. While the company had already managed to drag staggering amounts of power out of the little German hatch, the project simply lacked that certain muchness that a true tuner purebred needs in order to stand out of the crowd. The solution? Yank 785 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque from the car – a 55 horse jump over the previous iteration of the project.

Yeah, we think that’ll do just fine.

How’d they do it? For starters, there’s a pair of mammoth Garrett G28/71 turbos under the hood pushing on forged internals. The team also reworked the cylinder heads, bolted on a water/methanol-injection intake manifold and unique cast-iron exhaust manifold. The whole kit breathes through an up-sized stainless steel exhaust system, and MTE says that it has limited the wicked little Golf at 193 mph. In order to cope with that kind of speed, the VW wears Brembo six-piston calipers and KW Variant 3 coilovers along with semi-slick tires. Hit the jump for a look at the car back when it was in its lowly 730-horsepower guise.

Designed to be the ultimate off-road vehicle, the Bomber features Mattracks 88M1-A1 rubber tracks (8.5″ x 20″ wheels with 305/60 tires are standard). Measuring 150cm (59.1″) long and 40cm (15.7″) wide, the tracks “guarantee unrivalled traction on virtually any type of terrain, whether the vehicle is needed for agriculture, emergency services or expedition.”

Besides the tracks, the H2 has a matte silver paint job (with Air Force themed lettering) and a roof box with Hella lights. Inside, Geiger installed a sunroof, a Kenwood navigation system, and a rear seat entertainment system.

Power comes from a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 398 bhp (297 kW / 404 PS) and 574 Nm (423 lb-ft) of torque. If that doesn’t float your boat, an LPG Autogas system (with a 155 liter fuel tank) is also available.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a car fitted with Mattracks. Subaru debuted the WRX STI TRAX at the SEMA show in Las Vegas last year.

The 272-horsepower-strong TTS has 22,719km on the odometer and it’s up for sale by an Audi dealer in Nuremberg, Germany. More photos below.

The Megane RS, in particular, has competitors such as the Golf GTI and Focus RS, making it an ideal vehicle to tune up as a sportier model. Corniche Sports Wheels is the latest tuning firm making an attempt at creating a sportier Megane RS.

The sporty and elegant five-star wheel attracts attention with its multi-part optics, based on suggested screw threads, and its cosmopolitan design language – and holds that attention for some time. The Megane RS is provided with 8.5 x 19 inch ET45 wheels on the front axle and 9.5 x 19 inch ET50 rims on the rear axle. The vehicle also comes in a rich and sporty white paint with a contrasting Higloss-black-polished / Inox Lip version and stainless steel lowered center.

The Renault Megane RS is powered by a new-generation 2-liter 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine which boasts maximum power of 250hp at 5,500rpm and peak torque of 340Nm from 3,000rpm.

Press release

Dynamic Duo: Renault Mégane RS with CORNICHE VEGAS

With a four-cylinder turbo engine that puts out a fat 250 hp, the Renault Mégane RS lines up in the sports compact class to teach the Golf GTI and Co. a thing or two about fear. The dynamic French vehicle doesn’t even attempt to conceal its power, instead blatantly flaunting its high-performance ambitions with very visible spoilers, and a brawny diffuser tail.

The design of the French vehicle is rounded out perfectly by the VEGAS light-alloy rims from the collection of rim manufacturer CORNICHE SPORTS WHEELS, at home in Stein am Rhein.

The sporty and elegant five-star wheel attracts attention with its multi-part optics, based on suggested screw threads, and with its cosmopolitan design language – and holds that attention for some time. The 8.5 x 19 inch ET45 wheels on the front axle, and the 9.5 x 19 inch ET50 rims on the rear axle, represent the perfect size combination for the Renault Mégane. The contrast-rich surface finish of the Higloss-black-polished / Inox Lip version, with stainless steel lowered centre, is an outstanding match for the Renault Mégane, which is painted in a sporty white.

The CORNICHE VEGAS wheel is also available in the sizes 8.5 x 20 and 10 x 20 inch.

If you were one of the 30 Bimmerphiles to snag a 2011 Frozen Gray M3 Coupe last month, expect to fill out another round of paperwork before you take delivery of your new matte gray baby.

BMW is apparently requiring all owners to sign a “maintenance agreement” that insists the M3 is never polished or waxed, ran through an automatic car wash or even strongly rubbed. Additionally, BMW politely asks that you immediately remove bugs, bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills with a soft sponge, and naturally, dealers are more than willing to sell you appropriate products for maintaining the matte finish.

According to enthusiast site Bimmerfest, BMW explicitly states the M3’s warranty won’t cover any damage due to owner neglect and it notes that all exterior repairs must be performed by a BMW-authorized shop. What’s more, if you don’t sign the agreement, no Frozen Grey M3 for you. That’s a lot of disclaimers. All of which could be easily solved for less if you simply went down to your local custom vinyl shop and wrapped your (decidedly less expensive) standard M3 in a 3M coating. But how do you put a price on exclusivity?

If you are going to buy a car, you’ll most probably choose a turbo vehicle, especially if it is equipped with a diesel engine. And you will be completely right. Today almost everyone knows that a built-in turbocharger is an indisputable advantage of any vehicle, since it allows getting a full-power vehicle with a relatively small engine at the same time. This allows not to increase the car’s weight and keep fuel consumption at the same level. The latter condition is the most advantageous, since no one likes fuel-hungry cars.

But what would you do if you had already a vehicle and wanted to boost it up. Fortunately, there exists a solution in this case as well and it is not buying a new car, of course. In case you are not satisfied with speed characteristic s of your iron friend, you can install turbo kit and thus add much more performance to your engine. Of course, it is a rather costly treat, but when you get your upgraded car back, you’ll know definitely that all these expenses are justified.

So, today it is possible to get a turbo kit installed which consists of a turbocharger and other parts that ensure its proper work. You shouldn’t remember all the parts, since you will not bolt them up yourself. Just be aware that all of them are important and you can’t save money by omitting any of them. For example, if an intercooler of a blow-off valve will not be installed, your engine may get broken because of high temperature or pressure. All the details possess their own function and ensure safe and efficient work of a turbocharger.

Today there is a tendency to install smaller turbos. Though they generate the limited amount of power, they do not produce extended turbo lag which used to annoy many of the drivers. Besides, there are available twin turbo kits consisting of two small turbochargers (either parallel or simultaneous). Such system proved to be very efficient in terms of boosting up a car and at the same time make the turbo lag almost imperceptible. So, ask an expert, may be a twin turbo system is what you need.

As soon as you decide to boost up your car, bear in mind a few important things. First of all, never choose a turbocharger yourself. You are not a specialist, so you may be easily influenced by someone’s opinion or an advertisement. The second: a turbo kit is very expensive and you won’t be able to install it yourself. Hence plan your budget accordingly and include there installation service. And the third important thing: be prepared to leave your beloved car for several days at the tuning shop and become a pedestrian. Turbo kit installation is not as fast and easy as it may seem, so be ready to wait.

Long time ago automobile turned into not only a vehicle but also a luxury and entertainment object. Many car owners want to have powerful sport car but not all of them can afford it. There is a way out – turbo kits. Those who are looking how to make their car a real masterpiece, go to this site. Lots of info about performance parts and how to buy them.

It is self-evident that nowadays a car is not a luxury anymore. Due to vehicles people at last obtained freedom of motion. Today we are free to go wherever and whenever we want. At the same time we start demanding more from our iron friends. We are not satisfied anymore with just an opportunity to drive somewhere. Now we demand comfort, security and outstanding speed characteristics. Auto producers strive to meet the requirements of even the most demanding customers and every year we get more and more sophisticated cars. Today there are widely available turbo vehicles which are very popular due to their extraordinary speed characteristics. Fortunately those who bought their cars earlier also have an opportunity to get a faster vehicle. They can get turbo kits installed.

The most important part of any turbo kit is a turbocharger that compresses air and forces into the engine, thus more air and consequently fuel can come to the engine that adds more power to it. Installing a turbocharger allows to boost up a car without changing an engine for a larger one. And this is very appreciated by many drivers since their cars do not become fuel-hungry after boosting up. Even with a relatively small engine a car will have a lot of horse power.

It is self-evident that a turbocharger imposes additional load on the engine. That is why it cannot be installed alone. An installed intercooler will protect it from overheating, while the wastegates and blow-off valves will maintain pressure control of incoming and outgoing air streams. These are only several of numerous parts that will be installed together with the turbocharger. For this reason many skeptic drivers claim that it is much easier and cheaper to buy a new turbo car than to boost up an old one, but this is only a matter of choice.

What you should take care of having decided to boost up your car is what turbocharger to choose. Do not yield to the common opinion that the largest possible turbocharger is the best solution for the fastest car. Very often there appear additional problems and an extended turbo lag only because of the wrong-sized turbo. So, if you want to avoid such negative consequences and not to spend big money in vain, better resort to the service of experienced car mechanics who will advise you what to choose. There are so many options today that most probably you haven’t heard about all types of turbochargers. So, better ask specialists and you will get the most suitable one for your car. And you will not recognize your vehicle after boosting up – it will become a real road monster. Isn’t it worth of money spent?

Long time ago car changed into not only a vehicle but also a luxury and entertainment object. Many car owners want to have powerful sport car but not everybody can afford it.

The first turbocharger was invented about a century ago by a Swiss engineer who initially applied his invention to diesel ships. Soon auto industry borrowed this technology and with the course of time more and more cars became available with built-in turbochargers.

Some basic facts for those who are out of subject: an engine operates on the basis of a fuel/air mixture. It consumes air and fuel to create energy and thus run the engine together with internal parts operating the driveshaft and wheels. By compressing the air a turbocharger forces larger air volumes and thus more fuel into the engine, and obviously more power is generated. Turbocharger is a must for cars with diesel engines, since they are well-known for their poor performance.

So, it is self-evident that having a turbocharger under the hood is an indisputable advantage. But still there are skeptical opinions concerning turbocharging. And since there is no smoke without fire, let’s think about the reasons.

A turbocharger as any other thing has its advantages and disadvantages. So, the main drawback of the turbocharger which annoys many drivers is a turbo lag while accelerating. This is what really disturbs many car amateurs and provides grounds for many skeptics to exult. But it is worth mentioning that nowadays modern technologies are so sophisticated that turbo lag has become almost imperceptible. This became possible due to installation of smaller turbos and twin turbo kits. In case of a smaller turbo installation everything is quite clear: the larger is the turbocharger, the larger the turbo lag is. But obviously not everyone has heard about twin turbo kits.

So, twin turbo kits include two turbochargers of small size. They may be either parallel or sequential which results in different work principles. But irrespective of this there is something that unites them: high efficiency and almost imperceptible turbo lag. Evidently, two turbos are better than one, and small turbos mean small turbo lag. Nothing difficult, isn’t it?

So, as you see, everything is quite clear and understandable. But at the same time a turbo lit is not something you can bolt up yourself, this system is not something like do-it-yourself. Better resort to the service of specialists who will not only properly install a turbo kit, but will also help with the choice, as the latter is not as easy as it may seem. Nowadays there are so many options available that it is really hard to define what will suit the best to your engine. Hence do not try to make decisions by yourself, most probably you will be influenced by advertisement or some other’s opinions. And it won’t be too helpful. Only an expert is able to be impartial and choose what is really necessary.

Long time ago car changed into not only a vehicle but also a luxury and entertainment object. Many car owners would like to have powerful sport car but not all of them can afford it.

Car tuning enjoys great popularity nowadays. This is explained by the fact that drivers become more and more demanding and expect from the vehicles they have outstanding technical characteristics. Some of the car owners change the looks of their cars as well. As a result, they get unique personalized vehicles that more or less meet their requirements. So, let’s have a look at the main ways to upgrade a car and improve its performance.

First of all, many drivers strive to improve driving characteristics of the cars they have. They get wheels, shock absorbers and even suspension changed. Duet to such improvements in car mechanics, a car handles better and a driver feels more comfortable and confident while driving in various situations. Obviously, such expenses are more justified rather than changing the interior or exterior of a car to make it look more cool or expensive. But actually this is a matter of choice.

Some other drivers are not satisfied with speed characteristics of their vehicles and undertake installation of turbo kits to boost up their cars. This is rather expensive, since a lot of parts will be added to the car mechanics, but these changes are really worth of the money spent. Of course, today cars already equipped with turbochargers are widely available, but what can do those who have already got a vehicle and are not going to change it? To install a turbo kit, of course.

The most important part of any turbo kit is a turbocharger that adds power to an engine. It compresses air and due to this more air and fuel is forced into the engine. The work of the turbocharger is associated with high temperature and pressure which is rather harmful and may contribute to the quick wearing out of the engine. That is why another obligatory part of any turbo kit is an intercooler which will allow to keep the temperature at the lowest possible level. The pressure of incoming and outgoing air streams will be controlled by the wastegates and blow-off valves which are also an integral part of any turbo kit. And a lot of other parts will be installed for safe and efficient work of the turbocharger.

Nowadays a lot of drivers find it difficult to choose between larger and smaller turbochargers, since the larger one gives more power but has large turbo lag, while the smaller one is relatively limited in power, but its turbo lag is almost imperceptible. The dilemma became even worse with appearance of twin turbo kits which consist of two smaller turbochargers. But the way out of this problem is addressing the experts who will choose a turbocharger which fits to the particular engine. This will solve the problem of choice and serve as a guarantee of successful money investment in boosting up a vehicle.

Long time ago car changed into not only a vehicle but also a luxury and entertainment object. Many people want to have high-powered sport car but not everybody can afford it. There is a way out – turbo kits. Those who are looking how to make their car a real masterpiece, go to this site.

Turbocharging is quite popular today. More and more drivers want to speed up their cars and hence install turbochargers. Certainly, installing a turbo kit cannot be cheap, since too many parts besides the turbocharger will be installed under the hood. Moreover, a turbo kit is not something you can bolt up yourself. Include to the turbo budget expenses for installation service, since you’ll need to resort to the service of car mechanics. And another problem to be faced by a driver is becoming a pedestrian for a certain period and using public transport, because installing a turbo kit is not a one-day day affair and you’ll have to leave your car for several days at the tuning shop. But in spite of all possible problems and inconveniences turbocharging is worth of the entire complicated process, since the car will become really insane on the road.

The secret of high speed is within the turbocharger which compresses air and thus more air and fuel comes into the engine. Thus a car gets more horsepower, but does not become fuel-hungry, since the engine remains of the same size. At the same time skeptics find another drawback which is really inconvenient – a turbocharger lag. Though modern turbo systems are designed to make this lag almost imperceptible, it is rather useful to know what actually turbo lag is.

Under the term “turbo lag” we mean time taken by the turbocharger for spinning up and making necessary boost pressure. Hot exhaust gasses that pass through the turbine drive the turbocharger. Before achieving positive boost pressure, there should be sufficient amount of exhaust energy for spinning the turbine.

Obviously, turbocharging imposes additional load to the engine which in its turn may wear out much quicker. For this reason a lot of other parts are installed, in order to protect the engine from overheating and high pressures. Thus such details like an intercooler, wastegates, blow-off valves etc. will be installed. This explains high cost of a turbo kit, since an entire system will be added to the mechanics of a conventional car.

A recent invention, twin turbo kits, allows to minimize the turbo lag and make it almost imperceptible. Such kits suppose installation of two small turbochargers either parallel or sequential. They proved to be very efficient and advantageous in term of that annoying turbo lag. That’s why more and more drivers prefer installing twin turbos instead of a single large one. But it does not necessarily mean that a twin turbo kit is a universal solution for everyone. So, it is reasonable to ask of experts’ opinion before spending money on any of the kits. In this case the choice will be correct and the money for boosting up a car will not be spent in vain.
