Citroen DS3 Racing: incoming sporting version with 210 hp
At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Citroen will present the DS3 Racing, high-performance version of the tasty French utility, powered by the 1.6 THP petrol engine with 210 hp. This is the same unit that will be placed also under the hood of Peugeot RCZ coupe. Thus, even after 6 months of the formal submission, the DS3 is enriched variant of “hot hatch” that competes on equal terms with Opel Corsa OPC and, especially, Mini Cooper S and Renault Clio RS.
For some time there was talk of a sport version for the Citroen DS3 that, initially, was to be called GT, while later it was rumored that the installation had to be identified with the sporty impractical So Quick. In addition to the powerful engine, the DS3 Racing will be characterized by internal elements and carbon fiber body, like the shell of the mirrors. The car will debut on the market in September and will be implemented in 1000 copies a year.
In addition, the Citroen DS3 Racing will be the starting point for future DS3 WRC that will be used by Chevron Double world championship rally since 2011, replacing the C4 WRC. Development of racing car also is helping the world champion Sebastien Loeb, Citroen team’s top driver. But the news for the range DS3 will not stop here, because in the course of 2011 is expected the arrival of that convertible variant, most likely, will replace the current C3 Pluriel.
