Future BMW 1 Series M could have 400 horsepower

Performance version of BMW 1 Series could hide under the hood a 400-horsepower engine, derived from the current 3.0 bi-turbo.

bmw-1-series-MIn early November, sources inside BMW confirmed intentions to produce a version of the model M Series 1.Only one months since then have started to appear speculation on future features performance family member, born in Munich.

It seems that the future model, which is believed to be called M1, is expected in 24 months on the European market.The compact will have six-cylinder engine with 3.0-liter bi-turbo, modified to develop a total power of up to 400 horses and 500 Nm of torque. The unit will be coupled to a transmission with seven reports, available on the current M3.

The performance will be developed on a completely new platform that would stand and the next generation 3 Series, and will feature an electronically adjustable suspension complemented by a limited slip differential.

The performances are impressive, considering we’re talking 100-plus horsepower and 75 pounds less than the present 135i, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.3 seconds. Pricing is not currently know nothing, but experts estimate that could be around 50,000 euros.
